I attended Washington Bible College in the fall of 1974 with a view to being a missionary or possibly a teacher at a Christian School. It was there I met the man of my dreams and ended up marrying him in June or 1975 (a 9 month courtship to marriage). Steve was still finishing up his education and thinking of becoming a pastor and going to seminary so someone had to go to work full time. I got a job as a secretary working for the Naval Ship Engineering Center near Hyattsville, MD. I was awarded a PHT degree from Steve’s school – Putting Hubby Thru – for my help and support in seeing him through the seminary process. It was a thrilling and long process. Wouldn’t trade it for the world!
Steve and I married in 1975 and will be celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary in 2010! We have 4 biological sons; Nathaniel, Aaron, Andrew and Matthew. We also were foster parents to Albert who we consider just another one of our sons. Three of our sons are married to wonderful Christian young women and we have 5 ½ grandchildren!
We came to Trinity Church in July of 1995 so that means I have been at Trinity for almost 15 years.
I currently am a part of a team of ladies that provides a warm lunch to the homeless day shelter in Edgewood once a month. I also serve as one of the teachers in our Promise Kingdom ministry to the children for the 2 and 3 year old kids.
As I mature (get older) I must remind myself not to get stuck in my ways and become apathetic or lukewarm in my commitment to Christ. I must be open to what He would have me do even if I am not use to doing it or don’t feel like doing it. I also must persevere and not let Satan whisper in my ear to give up.
Sports: I have taken up a new sport this year, Pickleball. It is a combination of tennis, ping pong and badminton and is played with a wiffle ball on a tennis court using ½ of the court. I simply love it! I also enjoy skiing and bike riding.
Recreation: I like sitting on the beach with a good book. I also enjoy knitting but have not picked up my needles in quite some time.
Foods: I thoroughly enjoy all types of food and love to eat out! I also enjoy the local coffee shops.
I grew up in Fairfield, VA on a 200 acre farm in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. I loved watching and helping my grandfather take care of the cattle. I even learned how to drive a tractor and put up hay!
I met Steve at Washington Bible College when I was a freshman and he was a junior.
I would like our church to become known for effectively communicating the good news of Jesus Christ to a lost and dying world.
